If you live in Tampa Bay and looking for a little day trip or getaway, check out historial Tarpon Springs.
Tarpon Springs is home to the largest Greek population located on central Florida’s Gulf Coast in the Tampa Bay Area. Greek eateries line waterfront Dodecanese Boulevard, a legacy of the Greek sponge divers who settled here in the early 1900s. Along the water, the Historic Sponge Docks are a reminder of the once booming industry.
We feature St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Cathedral built in 1943 which replaced the original building built in 1907. The church hosts an annual epiphany celebration on January 6 in which Greek Orthodox boys aged 16 to 18 dive into Spring Bayou to retrieve a cross. A statue of an epiphany diver is located in front of the church. To see the inside of St Nicholas Cathedral see weddings, our sister company, Celebrations of Tampa Bay has shot inside this beautiful church
